Granddaughter loved her new bike!
Nine year old Granddaughter received her Guardian bike. It was her first. She learned to ride the bike in just 3 tries! Should have seen the huge smile on her face as soon as she mastered the ride. Buy Made in America!
Acceptable if you are mechanically inclined
Unboxing and assembling this bike was easy enough to accomplish. Generally it's built well, and seems like it'll be a nice bike. Out of box the derailleur was adjusted so badly if you started peddling the chain would immedialty eject itself from the cassette. The upper and lower limits weren't set at all, and the cable was completely loose so the tension needed adjusting. This is the first bike I've bought to include really inexpensive models and $2000+ models that needed this much adjustment upon delivery. The bike is nice enough but for the premium cost a functional product upon delivery would be nice. I knew how to make the required adjustments and it works just fine now, but for someone who doens't know how to do so it would be really frustrating. I wouldn't recommend a guardian bike with gears to someone that either doesn't already know how to adjust the derailleur or isn't willing to learn.
Guardian Bikes
Hi Jon, I'm so sorry to hear that the derailleur on your new bike needed to be adjusted right out of the box. This is certainly not the experience we strive for as every bike should arrive in perfect condition and ready to ride. I'm curious if you noticed any damage to the shipping box and if you have any photos of the bike when it arrived for our team to take a look at. We're always looking to improve so any further details and feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much! Laura @Guardian
From Struggling to Soaring: The Perfect Bike for New Riders!
I couldn’t be happier with our new Guardian bike! After seeing an advertisement and reading so many impressive reviews, I decided to give it a try for my 8-year-old. She had struggled to learn how to ride a two-wheeler on her old bike, but Guardian made all the difference. On her first ride, we removed the pedals so she could practice balancing. By the next day, we put the pedals back on, and within less than an hour, she was riding confidently! On day three, she even mastered taking off on her own. Now, we’re enjoying family bike rides together and recently completed a 5-mile ride—a huge milestone for her! She absolutely loves the bike’s color and the matching helmet, and we’re planning to add fun accessories like a bell and water bottle soon. Guardian bicycles have exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend them to any parent looking for a safe, well-designed bike for their child.
I was hopeful
I was really hopeful with all the reviews of success but that was not the case. She tried it the first day it arrived and hasn't been on it since. She reaches for the smaller, lighter balance bike instead. This is just a guess, she is so hard to read, and she doesn't give me much information to work with, but she seems uncomfortable with the handlebar placement. Can they raised to allow her to be sitting more upright rather than hunched? Her physical therapist isn't sure she can do it without training wheels but she really wants to try. Who knows she may come back to it in a while maybe she wasn't ready.
Guardian Bikes
Hi Aileen, Guardian Bikes here. We're sorry to hear your little one struggles to gain confidence and comfort on her new bike. We feel you know your kiddo best and we do have options to add training wheels on our bikes! We also do have an option to raise the stem which we'd be happy to share. Please reach us at info@guardianbikes.com we can help share these options with you in hopes that your little one might feel more comfortable on her new bike! Thanks, Amber @ Guardian Bikes
Best. Decision. EVER!!!
Well, maybe not “ever” but certainly up near the top. Our 7 yo son was incredibly hesitant about riding a bike, for fear of falling. He’s had a little Schwinn for over a year now & rode it maybe a handful of times with the training wheels. And even then was only a few minutes at a time. He just did not enjoy it. A friend told us their kids’ Guardian bike did the trick so we pulled the trigger & got one. I put the pedals on right away & he tried riding it but got instantly frustrated because he couldn’t balance & ride it. Then, ding!, I remembered he needs to learn to balance first, so I removed the pedals. He scooted around like that for 4-5 days, maybe 10-15mins at a time. Then, on went the pedals and off he went!!! My heart nearly exploded with pride. :’) Our first family bike ride is something I hope none of us forget. Now he rides every day after school. I honestly think the surestop break system is incredibly key here because the breaking on the Schwinn (pushing pedals back in order to break), messed with his head. Also, the design looks waaay more comfortable for him. Perhaps if he had a Strider when he was little, he may have learned to ride quicker. But because of the design of the Guardian bike, and the break system, Guardian would most likely still be in our lives. It really is a game changer. Cannot recommend enough!!
