Guardian Gives: Kids Bike Donation Program
Guardian Gives: Charitable Bike Program
We believe that every child deserves the joy of having a bike to ride. That’s why we began our bike donation program, Guardian Gives. If the Guardian Bike you purchased isn’t right for your child, you can get a full refund within the first year. Instead of sending the bike back to us, we simply ask you to donate your bike to a local charity of your choice and a provide receipt and photo of the bike at the charity. Here’s how it works:
How Guardian Gives Works
The bike donation process is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
Step 1: Your child gets to test-ride their Guardian Bike for up to 365 days.
Step 2: If you decide the bike isn’t right for your child, donate the bike to a local charity organization.
Step 3: Send us a photo of the donation receipt and a photo of the bike at the charity, and we’ll credit your purchase in full.
Need help finding a charity? We can help you find the right home for the bike while you find the right bike for your child.
Where to Donate Kids Bikes
While there are countless charities that help support healthy, active lifestyles for children, here are some of our favorite picks:
- Bikes for Kids Foundation: This nonprofit's mission is right in its name. Bikes for Kids is an educational program that helps disadvantaged children focus in school, develop confidence, and pursue their dreams - all while riding a bicycle. Bikes for Kids helps children dream big, work hard, and enjoy the ride.
- Goodwill: Goodwill stores provide employment for the underprivileged and offer donated bicycles for children in need through multiple community programs like their “Santa Wheels” events.
- Pickup Please: Pickup Please makes bike donation easy by picking up the bicycle right from your house. These bikes benefit children of American veterans.
- Bikes for the World: This fantastic group makes bikes available to low-income communities across the globe. With Bikes for the World, your kid’s bike can help a child access education, health resources, and more.
- Your local organizations: There are great local organizations to get involved with in almost every community. You can give a bike to a child in your hometown and help inspire a lifelong love of biking right in your own backyard.
Why You Should Donate a Bike
When you donate a bike to a charity, you’re not just giving a child in need two wheels, a frame, and some handlebars. You’re helping enhance their physical, mental, and emotional health as well.
Here are just some of the ways a bike can change a child’s life:
- Boost confidence: Bikes take time to master. From balancing to steering to braking, each step along the process is a little hurdle. For your child, each challenge they overcome can bolster their confidence and improve their self-image.
- Improved social skills: Because bikes give kids a way to get around on their own, the activity gives them a sense of autonomy, which is key to their development. Going on rides together is also an incredibly fun thing for kids. If you’re trying to help youngsters bond, a new bicycle is a perfect start to their big adventure.
- Enhanced physical health: There’s no doubt about it - biking is a workout, even for kids! Cycling helps strengthen the heart and lungs, improves stamina, and helps build muscle in children. When it comes to exercise, biking is as fun (and addictive) as it gets.
- Aids in stress relief: Kids have to deal with stress from school, friends, and the uncertainties of growing up. Cycling is known to release endorphins - a feel-good brain chemical that relieves tension in grown-ups and children alike. A quick ride around the neighborhood can make all the difference for a kid when it feels like the world is on their shoulders.
Above all, biking is just plain fun! By donating your Guardian Bike, you will spark joy and hope in another child’s life.
